”TRUST IN THE LORD”
=====================================================
=====================================================
There are too many scriptures in God’s Word to put in this article. But, we
are told to put our trust in the Living Father and His Son, Jesus the Christ.
We must be willing to look to God’s ways to find the peace and perfect way of life.
Trust is such a simple word, but is so very hard to do! Trust in the Old Testament means to: seek refuge! Strong’s
# 2620 chacah (Khaw-saw’); a primitive root: to flee for protection; [compare 982; figuratively, to confide in:
KJV– have hope, make refuge, (put) trust.
In today’s world, the meaning of trust is found in the “Webster’s Dictionary for Everyday Use” as: confidence;
implicit faith; moral responsibility; to rely upon; implicit faith in; to hope; to believe. And the meaning of refuge
is: shelter; asylium; retreat; harbor. Refugee is one who flees to a place of safety.
In 2 Sam 22:31-32,
“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all them that trust [#2620]in
Him. For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?”
It is no wonder that when we follow God’s word and obey it, we will find the happiness and peace of mind that we
are told in Ps 5:11-12, “But let all those that put their trust [#2620] in Thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy,
because Thou defendest them: let them also that love Thy name be joyful in thee. For Thou, LORD, wilt bless the
righteous; with favour wilt Thou compass him as with a shield.”
Ps 18:30-32
“As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust [2620] in Him.
For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh
my way perfect.”
Ps 36:7-9,
“How excellent is thy Ioving kindness, 0 God! therefore the children of men put their trust [#2620] under the
shadow of Thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Thy house; and Thou shalt make them
drink of the river of Thy pleasures. For with Thee is the fountain of life: in Thy light shall we see light.”
Ps 37:3-7,
“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also
in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust [2620] also
in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as
the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his
way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
Prov 3:5-7,
“Trust [2620] in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from
evil.”
Isa 26:3-4,
“Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust [2620] ye
in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”
IN THE New Testament:
==================
Strong’s #982 batach (baw-takh’): a primitive root; properly, to hire for refuge [but not so precipitately as [2620]
figuratively, to trust, be confident or sure: KJV – be bold (confident, secure, sure), carless (one, woman). Put
confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust. See # 1679 elpizo (el-pid’-zo) From #1680: to expect or confide:
KJV –(have, thing) hope (-d) (for), trust.
I Tim 4:9-10,
“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because
we trust [982] in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”
Over the many years in the Church of God, all of us have had our thoughts
on where the place of safety is! We can now see that the place of SAFETY
is in our Lord, Jesus the Christ. Obedience and following God’s word in our
refuge and trust!
Remember, walking in faith and trust proves much harder when hope
disappears and plans fail! But turning to God and trusting Him in all our
setbacks, we can keep His place of safety about us! ☜
