Church Of God, In
Truth
STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
1. The Church of God believes in the God family, who has the spirit of a supreme mind, power,
and authority. Headed by God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, through whom all
creation was created.
John 1:1-2,14,18; John 17:5; Col 1:16; Heb 1:1-2; Psa. 19:1; Rom 15:6.
2. We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God, and the Son of man, conceived by the
Power of God's Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is the Living Head of the
Church of God.
Luke 1:26-35; I John 3:22-23; Matt 3:13-17; Col 1:18.
3. We believe that Jesus brought the true Gospel from God for mankind. That He is the
promised Messiah, that He died for the sins of the world, and that repentant and believing
sinners are justified and reconciled to God, by His shed blood when baptized.
Act 2:32-38;
Mark 1:1-2,14;
Col 1:12-14; Eph
1:3,7; I John
1:7.
4. We believe
God raised Christ
from the dead
after 3 days and 3
nights and He
ascended to heaven
and He was
glorified. He is the
living Christ, at the right hand of God, as our High Priest.
Matt 16:21; Luke 9:22; Heb 12:2; Mark 16:19; Luke 24:7; Act 2:32-33.
5. We believe the Holy Bible is the Inspired Revelation from God to man.
Matt 4:4; Deu 8:3; Gal 1:11-12; II Tim 3:16-17; Rev 1:1-3.
6. We believe that the Living Christ will soon return to earth. This time in all the power and glory of the
Creator God, as King of kings, and Lord of lords, to solve the now fast mounting world problems, to
establish world peace, to end ignorance, and disease.
Luke 22:14-18; John 3:17; Rev 21:3-4; I Tim 6:15; Rev 17:14.
7. We believe that Christ commissioned His Church, to proclaim the Gospel, which is the Good News of the
coming Kingdom of God and to feed his flock, teaching the theocratic government of God the Father and
Jesus Christ.
Mark 13:10; Matt 24:14; II Tim 4:1-5; Mark 16:15-18; Mark 1:15; I Pet 5:2-4; John 21:15-17;
I Sam 8:7; Hosea 13:11; Exo 19:5-8.
8. We believe that Mankind, the finest and most complicated mechanism ever created by God, was sent with
an instruction book, the Bible. The Bible reveals the purpose of human life and the way of life, God set in
motion a way to bring peace, happiness, and abundant well being.
Matt 4:4; John 16:33; Eph 2:11-13; II Tim 3:14-17.
9. We believe true Christians should, as Jesus said, actually live by every Word of the Divine Instruction
Book the Bible, to receive every good thing that all humans desire. And that blessings are the result of
this way of life and cursing the result of disobedience.
Deu 28; Lev 26; I John 3:22-24; Luke 6:46-47; Matt 7:7-8; James 1:5-6; Luke 4:4; John 5:29.
l0. We believe the Bible interprets itself, that no Scripture must be privately interpreted by itself, but by other
Scriptures. We therefore accept it as it is, believing what it says, and to say what it means. There are
symbols, allegories, and parables, and these are explained within the Bible itself.
II Pet 1:20-21; II Tim 3:16; II Tim 2:15.
11. We believe that the Bible is up to date in this Twentieth-first Century, It is rational and makes sense. Our
members study the Bible to live a rational, common sense, balanced way of life.
Luke 6:27-38; I Tim 1:8-10.
12. We believe in the strictest sense, in following the instructions as laid down in the Word of God.
Membership in the family of God requires:
(1) Being called by God the Father. John 6:44.
(2) Repentance. Acts 3:19.
(3) Baptized and receive the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands. Acts 2:38-39; Acts 8:17.
(4) Go on to perfection. Eph 2:8; James 2:17.
13. We believe that the Church,"called out ones", are to go on to perfection proving all things and hold fast
that which is true.
Heb 6:1; Matt 5:48; I Thess 5:21; John 17:17.
14. We believe in the Ten Commandments of God, magnified by Christ. This is the foundation of God's
teachings expressing love toward God and fellow man.
Exo. 20; Deu 5; Rom 13:10; Matt 5:17-19; Matt 22:36-40; Eze 36:27.
15. We believe the annual Holy Days were ordained by God. These seven appointed Feasts picture God's
plan of salvation for mankind, and are to be kept according to scripture, not according to man's
traditions.
Lev 23; Rev 22:18-19.
16. We believe each individual has the responsibility to tithe on the increase of his income. It is an
opportunity to honor the Lord with his substance. Through tithing and the three commanded Holy Day
offerings given on Days of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, and the Feast of Tabernacles, God sustains His
Church, the preaching of His soon coming Kingdom of God and the preparation to be the bride for Christ.
Mal 3:8-10; Matt 6:21; II Cor 9:6-7; Deu 16:16-17; Exo 23:14-19; Exo 34:22-23; Pro 3:9-10.
17. God says divine healing is a benefit. His kindness, mercy and love extends to those who call upon Him in
time of need according to faith. If a person has committed any sin it shall be forgiven him.
James 5:14-15; Psa 103:2-3; Exo 15:26; I Pet 2:24; Isa 53:5.
18. The Church of God believes the seventh day of the week is the Sabbath of the Lord, instituted at creation.
Confirmed in the covenant at Sinai. The Sabbath is a sign between God and His Church.
Gen 2:2-3; Exo 31:16-17; Mark 2:27-28; Luke 4:16; Heb 4:4.
