LIFE BEYOND THE LAST GREAT DAY
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
When reading ancient manuscripts like the Dead Sea Scrolls, prophetic numbers like the mark of the beast
and number 666 of the beast, symbolic images reflecting awesome apocalyptic events, Armageddon and the
wrath of God, all of these form parts of the Holy Book. For these reasons, at first glance it would seem that the
Bible is shrouded in mystery. But can we understand the Bible? YES, Jesus holds the key to unlock the future
even to include the kind of life we may have after and beyond the Last Great Day.
Now, lets fast forward the hands of time and travel into the distant future, at a time when the 7000 year
master plan of God had been completed, when our planet had been completely cleansed of all unrighteousness.
Yes, at a time when God will now fulfill His promise, “Behold I create a new heaven and a new earth”( Isaiah
65:17).
We pray that the Almighty Father will send His ministering Angel to help articulate through the use of
this article, so we will be able to see and appreciate what God has prepared for those who love Him.
You see, when all these things have been put in place where God had prepared for us a city that will soon
come down from heaven. A colossal city in space whose majestic beauty and splendored is beyond the human
mind to grasp. The Bible says “Eye have not seen nor ear heard neither have entered into the heart of man the
things that God had prepared for them that love Him” (1 Cor. 2:9).
The glory of our heavenly home has been designed by a super Genius. When you see what God had made,
you won’t be able to stop praising and shouting at the top of your voice for joy!! You will see perfection in all
points you have never seen before. You will see old friends, and all that God has prepared for us. A place to
dwell on where the flowers never fade, a place where there is no sin nor suffering, no violence and pain to disturb
the everyday affairs of life. Our Savior loves us so much that He had to die on the stake so that you and I could
be in that great and magnificent city made of gold and other extremely rare precious stones.
The city I am talking about had twelve gates and each gate you know is made of a single pearl. Think
about that! It is a four squared city with three gates on each side. Above each gate is written the names of the
twelve tribes of Israel. Revelation 21:21, tells us also that the streets of the city are made of gold, of pure gold
like unto a transparent glass. The Bible also tells us that aside from a river that flows from the throne of God.
Four other major rivers flow out of Eden that go farther out from the New Jerusalem. Millions of smaller
tributaries are formed that will supply the water need of all nations around the world. In the midst of the city is
the Tree of Life which bare twelve kinds of fruits. And the amazing wonder of this tree is that it yields fruits
every month that provide eternal vigour, youth, and immortality” (Rev. 22:2).
Now this city is in existence now though it is not finished yet. “Jesus said, I go to prepare a place for you
and I will take you there that where I am there you maybe also.”
Now brethren, keep in mind that what been described to you is merely a product of human effort to help
you picture something that is very real. And remember, we are all pilgrims on earth. We are all traveler
following the same road. Once in a while we ask ourselves – how short is life? The Bible tells us that we are but
a shadow, a vapor, like grass that springs to life in the morning but after being exposed to the heat of the hot
scorching sun withers in the evening. Compared to eternity it is nothing. The primary purpose of our temporary
existence is to live forever. We are members of the God family. We have been made after the God kind and is
meant to live forever. Let us now go back to God’s word and study more of this colossal mega city in space,
Q No. 1: Who is the architect and builder of this space city? “…wherefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God for He hath prepared for them a city”(Hebrews
11: 16).
Q No. 2: Where is this amazing city that God is preparing?
“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven” (Reve 21:2 ). So
where is it now, in heaven? Specifically in the third Heaven. The first heaven is where the birds fly, where the
clouds are formed and in return give us rain. The second heaven is where all these heavenly bodies exist, the
planets and the stars and the third Heaven is where God dwells, “The Heaven is My throne and the earth is My
footstool” (Isaiah 66:1). So the New Jerusalem in the making will become the central capital of the universe.
A time is coming when God will transport the capital of the universe to our new planet and we will live and reign
with Christ under God the Father for all time. The new city of Jerusalem will not be like the city of Jerusalem
we see in Palestine today. Jerusalem means the city of peace but if there is a place that is so contested and
troubled it is the city of Jerusalem where war has been going on for as long as can be remember. In contrast, the
New Jerusalem will truly be a city of peace because Jesus, the Prince of peace will be in our midst and in the
hearts of all men.
Q No. 3 –How does the Holy Scripture described this amazing city in space? “And the city lieth foursquare,….and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs and
the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal”(Revelation 21:16). Twelve thousand furlongs is all the
way around 375 miles this way, 375 miles that way. And as the Holy city descends from heaven to our planet
glowing like a brilliant jewel in the sky - what a sight it would be to behold! Would it not be something?
Chapter 21 of Revelation, shows, everything in the city is made of minerals, of translucent minerals
meaning light can go through them. There is neither day nor night in the city because God is there and God is
light and in Him there is no darkness. We will not be in need of electric power companies anymore because God
is there and He is the ultimate power company.
Revelation 21:14 and 21 says, “The wall of the city had twelve foundations” garnished with all manners
of precious stones. What does it mean? You will recall that the city have twelve gates and the names of the
twelve tribes of Israel are written in them – this time, “The wall of the city had twelve foundations and the names
of the twelve apostles are written in them.” What is the meaning of all these? It means the principles of man’s
life in the Holy City will be guided by both the teachings of Christ – as written by the prophets in the Old
Testament and the teachings of Christ as written by the Apostles in the New Testament.
Q No. 4: What promises did God make to the people who will enter the Kingdom?
“The Lord in Person will be with them” (Revelation 21:3). God in person will be with us. We will
see God face to face. Rev. 21:4, Rev. 22:3, Rev.7:16, Isa 33:24, Isa 65:23. There will be no more death,
pain, tears, sorrow, hospitals, tragedy, disappointments, hunger or thirst. The deaf will hear, the blind will see,
the dumb will sing and the lame will be able to run! Oh yes, would it not be exciting? “They will never become
bored. There will be pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16: 11).
Q No.5: What about our relationship to one another?
“Jealousy, fear, hatred, falsehood, envy, impurity, filth, all will be forever shut out of God’s kingdom”
(Rev. 21:8, 27, Rev. 22:15). What was the original condition of the garden of Eden when God instructed Adam
and Eve to cultivate it?- Good, very good! In God’s kingdom every person will be physically and spiritually
whole in every way. Life in the kingdom will even be better than it was before.
Q No 6. How will the new earth differ from our earth today?
Revelation 21 reveals, there will be no more seas to separate love ones. All the oceans and famous rivers
around the world will be gone, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic ocean, the Yangtze river, the Nile, the Amazons
and the Mississippi River will be gone. Isaiah shows, that the desert will become a garden and will blossom like
a rose” (Isa 35:1-2). Isaiah goes on in chapter 11:6-9; 65: 25, “The animals will all be tamed. None will prey
upon others and a little child will lead them.”
Q No. 7- Yes, there will be children in the Kingdom?
“And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets” ( Zechariah 8:5). In our
present evil world you just can’t leave your child play in the street and before you know they are kidnapped, rape
or murdered. But in the world tomorrow there is nothing of that sort that will happen because you yourself will
even tell them, Yes - yes, go out there and play in the streets of gold.
Q No.8 - Will we be reunited with our loved ones and will they be able to recognize us?
Yes! “Then shall I know even as I am known”1 Cor 13:12).
Q No. 9 - What kind of body will we have?
“The Lord Jesus Christ will change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto His
glorious body” (Phil 2:20 - 21).
Q No.10- Will people in heaven be really made of flesh and blood? “And Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them and said, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and
affrightened and supposed that they have seen a spirit. And He said unto them, why are ye troubled, why do
thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself, handle Me and see, for a spirit
hath no flesh and bones as you see Me have” (Luke 24: 36-39). “And while they yet believed not, and wondered,
He said unto them. Have you any meat? And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and an honeycomb and He
sat down and eat before them”(Luke 24:41-43). Q No. 11 – How will the redeemed spend time in the heavenly Kingdom?
“They shall build houses and inhabit them and they shall plant vineyards and eat the fruits of them. For
mine elect shall enjoy the work of their hands” (Isaiah 25:21). We will be creative. God made us to be useful.
Matt. 8:11 says, we will be very busy visiting our loved ones, the patriarchs and the prophets. By that time maybe
we will be asking Moses, how did it feel to confront the most powerful man in Egypt? Or maybe we will ask
Abraham, how did it feel when God told you to offer up your son, your only son in the mountain of Mariah?
We will travel in space without being weary, Isaiah 65 tells us. Not at the speed of sound, nor at the
speed of light 186,000 M/Sec. But we will travel to visit other realms at the speed of thought. We will fly like
an eagle and soar in the open sky visiting other planets and see the vastness of God’s awesome creations. Can
you picture that?
Q No. 12 – Is there room for you in the kingdom or is the Kingdom prepared for you personally?
Yes! It is for whom so ever will. Jesus said, who so ever will let him take the water of life freely. He
also said, “I go to prepare a place for you that were I am there you maybe also” (Rev. 22: 17). Friends, Can we
afford to exchange eternal life for the pleasure of a season? That would be so sad. We will then be just like a little
child who was made to choose between a match box car now and a brand new car 15 years later when he had
come of age. And the innocent child answers back, I want my matchbox car now so I have something to play on.
If that is so, then it is worth considering the advice of the Apostle Paul in 2 Cor. 4:17 when he said, “For our
light affliction which is but for a moment worketh for us a far more exceeding eternal weight of glory.” Consider
how beautiful is the language used by the Apostle Paul. It means you have a passing pleasure for a moment but
the thing that God offers us is eternal and lasting joy forevermore. Brethren, there is no comparison!!
Yes, there will be struggles against temptations, “For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads
to destruction and strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeths unto life” (Matt 7:13).
We are familiar with the way the devil operates, get, get and get. In contrast, the way of God,
give, give and give. In the end, if we overcome, in exchange of all these appealing temporary worldly
pleasures there will be lasting peace and happiness beyond measure.“Blessed are they who do His
commandments for they shall have the right to the tree of life” (Rev. 22:14).
Friends, the world tomorrow waits with eager longing for the birth of the sons of God.
Will you be there?
