NEW THOUGHTS
EASTERN ROMAN EMPIRE!
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
As most of you who are readers of the “Prove All Things,” know, we have been saying for many years that
Germany is not Assyria of the Bible! Recently we learned that the Eastern part of the Roman Empire, which split
with the Western Roman Empire, had a its new capital in Constantinople, which is Turkey today! This Empire
consisted of Greece, Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran!
Today, we see the Assyria forming through the Islamic leadership of Turkey! Recep Tayyip Erdogan the leader
of Turkey came into power through a democratic election and then is turning it into an Islamic nation. Could
this eastern Roman Empire be the beast of the book of Daniel and Revelation?
The Encyclopedia Americana 1949 Edition, tells the story of the Eastern Roman Empire under Constantine.
Constantine the Great (324-337) became the soul ruler of the empire. He continued administrative policy of
Deoeletian. He built Constantinople as the new capital of the Empire and made Christianity the state religion.
(Vol 23m Page 671)
In 323, Constantine advanced on Byzantium and by means of construction ramparts and towers as high as those
of the finally succeeded in taking it. The name “Byzantium” now disappears, and “Constantinople” take it place
the city is also called “Roma Nova,” or New Rome, for it is raised to the dignity of the capital of the Roman
Empire, thanks to its geographical position, which alone is responsible for it vicissitude and chequered fortunes.
Rome and a host of other consideration demanded that the capital should be transferred further eastward. But,
Constantinople was not destined to tread the path of peace and Christianity. The decline had set in; the fall was
at hand, and new star had rised in the East–Islam. (Vol 7, Page 560).
Constantinople was called the “Queen city of the earth, seated upon a throne,” also, noted is Istanbul, or
Constantinople proper, occupied the site of ancient Byzantium, built like the ancient Rome on seven hills. The
peninsula on which the city stands has the form almost of a triangle or, more correctly, of a trapezium,
surrounded on all sides by water excepting the west, with a total waterfront of twelve miles in extent. (Vol 7
Pages 557 & 558)
A General Council of Constantinople was held in 860 for the purpose of ending the schism then separating the
Eastern from the Western Church. But both decree and the measure proposed by the council for reconciling
the Eastern with the Western Churches were repudiated by the Greek Church; and the schism grew wider has
continued, with an interval of communion now and again till the present time. (Vol 7, page 561). Today,
Constantinople is called “Istanbul” Turkey! ☜
