"SIGNS TO LOOK FOR"
Christ has told us what to look for at the end of the age! "So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know
that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be
fulfilled" (Matt 24:33-34).
According to the King James Annotated Study Bible (Thomas Nelson 1988 version), Signs are indications that
Christ is about to return to earth. There are oblivious signs during the seven year Tribulation before the
revelation of Christ. No one will ever know the date of Jesus return until He comes. Still there are certain things
happening in our world to suggest His return may be very close. These are: (1) Israel's return to the Promised
Land; (2) the Oblivious accelerations of lawlessness; (3) Increase of apostasy (1 Tim. 4:1 "Now the Spirit
speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils. '); (4) The social-religious climate preparing for the one world church:; (5) The rapid
acceleration of life threatening conditions— such as potential atomic annihilation, population explosion, and
pollution that require Christ's return before events run their natural course and terminate the world. Paul lists
certain conditions which, thought true in every age, appear to be more prevalent today. "This know also, that
in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce breakers, false
accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures
more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof from such turn away"
(2 Tim. 3:1-5).
Application: The Christians in Thessalonica lived in expectation of Christ imminent return, just as all Christian
ought to live today. Reference, Jude 14: "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied ofthese, saying,
Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands ofHis saints. " And Matthew 24:33 and Matthew 13:52, "Then said
He unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is
an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old. "
The Church of God, In Truth, know that others signs are happening now in the years since 1988. We have seen
the Supreme Court change marriage of a man and woman to same sex marriage. This follows what Christ said
in Matthew 24: 37-39, `But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the
days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that
Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming
of the Son of man be." [The days of Noah and the flood, illustrates and prefigure the condition of humanity at
the time of Christ's return. The last generation, like the one of Noah's day, is pleasure-oriented and
self-gratifying by eating and drinking. The reference to marrying and giving in marriage may refer to carrying
on the normal course of life without heeding the impending judgment.] Now people are changing their gender,
even though they have not had a sex change operation. Schools are teaching young children that its OK to be a
different sex, if they want too!
God's truth is being changed to include the Muslim Allah. Some churches are teaching that Allah and God are
the same. Even the Pope thinks Allah is the same as God, the Father.
"So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily
I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my
words shall not pass away. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with
surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall
it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may
be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (Luke
21:31-36). Cogit
