HE'S AS NEAR AS THE WORDS OF A PRAYER
HE'S AS NEAR AS THE WORDS OF A PRAYER
God's people are scattered from place to place;
So many dear friends we have known
Will never again meet with us face to face;
This makes us feel quite alone.
Some of us gather in groups large and small
Which never seem to last;
Still others grow weary and tired of it all;
And return to sins of the past.
A lot of dear friends have departed this life;
Their race is already won.
No more will they suffer from pain and strife;
God says to them, "Well done!"
Through all of this turmoil we must not forget
Our Father is always there;
With Him beside us we need not fret;
He's as near as the words of a prayer.
We must remember, from God's holy word,
His promise that He'll never leave us;
And never forget all the truth we have heard;
We must not let Satan deceive us!
For God did not call us that we should quit ;
His truth we must always defend.
Then at our dear Saviour's side we will sit,
If we grow and endure to the end.
