GOD PROMISED ISRAEL
God promised Israel if they,
His laws and statutes would obey,
And from His precepts never stray,
They would be blessed in every way.
He promised if they'd do what's right,
Then all their battles He would fight;
Their enemies would all take flight,
For none could stand against His might.
But if they, on the other hand,
Should turn aside from His command,
They'd be removed for their own land
By foes, whom they could not withstand.
God's people said, "We promise you,
That all the Lord says, we will do;
And to His words, we will be true;
We'll be forever faithful, too."
But Israel soon turned aside
>From following their faithful Guide;
The Lord Who bought them, they denied;
Instead of being true, they lied.
On all His promises God stands;
When Israel broke His commands,
He scattered them in other lands;
They worshiped idols made with hands.
If we return to God once more,
He'll fight our battles as before;
All we have lost He will restore;
We'll live with Him forevermore.
