Elders Letter:
James Russell, Elder:
Dear Brethren and Co - workers;
This Prove All Things magazine is written to be a STUDY magazine, dedicated to the Word of God! We
are admonished in 2 Timothy 2:15 to “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not
need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” NKJV: The following condensed letter from the
Apostle Paul to the Ephesian church, addresses itself to no specific problem such as a particular church might
have; it will speak only of general problems that believers everywhere have in common.
I Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to
the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus
Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual
blessings in heavenly places in Christ: (Eph.1:2-3). Wherein in time past ye walked according to the
course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the
children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of
our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath,
even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when
we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised
us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come
He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For
by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest
any man should boast (Eph 2:2-9). That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give
unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: The eyes of your understanding
being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of
His inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to usward who believe,
according to the working of His mighty power, Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from
the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places (Eph 1:17-20). If ye have heard of
the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward: How that by revelation He made
known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand
my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men,
as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit (Eph 3:2-5) Therefore, the
prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all
lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the
unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one
hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all,
and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the
gift of Christ (Eph 4:1-7). Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of
God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be
no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men,
and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow
up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ (Eph 4:13-15). Be ye therefore followers of
God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an
offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour (Eph 5:1-2). Let no man deceive you with
vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience (Eph
5:6). Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole
armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having
your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with
the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God” (Eph.6?10-18). Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Peace be to the brethren,
and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our
Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen (Eph. 6:18-19,23).
